Steenberg Semillion 2006 £9.99

AND now for something completely different... or at least unusual.

The Steenberg (literally meaning ‘stone mountain’) winery was established in Constantia near Cape Town back in 1682. During the 1700s this area was famous for producing dessert wines of great quality.

In subsequent years this sweet style declined, but due to its relatively cool climate Constantia is still
capable of producing wines of elegance and good acid-fruit balance.

Intriguingly, although dry this white wine is made from a grape variety (the Semillion) which is most famous as the principal ingredient in the dessert wines of Sauternes in France’s Bordeaux region.

The result is a full-bodied opulent white wine with exotic lemony notes. Best enjoyed chilled with pork or chicken in cream sauces.

This is just one of the wines from our unique inner cellar selection. Please come in and have a look around for yourself.
