Docklands business club awards launched

BDC.jpgIt's the launch of the Docklands Business Club awards for 2008.

The venue is spectacular, there are plenty of awards up for grabs, a river cruise and a slap-up dinner – so what are you waiting for?

The much coveted Docklands Business Club and East London Chamber of Commerce Business Awards are back for 2008 with a range of categories for you to impress the judges.

Business Person of the Year is being supported by The Wharf, but a host of companies have given their backing to this glittering event.

As well as the awards themselves there is of course the black tie gala dinner on Thursday, May 27, where the winners will be announced in the magnificent setting of the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich.

Many Canary Wharf, Docklands, east London and Thames Gateway companies will be competing for honours – regarded by many as the high point of the DBC/ELCC calendar.

The packed programme on the night features a champagne river boat cruise from Canary Wharf to Greenwich, celebration dinner, charity raffle in aid of the Barts and London Hanbury Dialysis Unit, the awards presentations and dancing until late.

DBC chairman Rita Beckwith said: “For 2008 we have introduced some challenging new awards which will certainly attract a very competitive list of entries.

“A keen sense of anticipation will heighten a tense atmosphere leading up to the actual announcements of
winners and runners up. This is certainly going to prove a night to remember in a magnificent, historic setting.”

Entries are called for by Monday, March 31, in eight categories: Best Use of Technology; Business Growth; Business of the Year; Business Person of the Year; Customer Focus; Dedication To Staff Development; Green Business and Marketing Excellence.

Businesses based in the London boroughs of Barking, Dagenham, Greenwich, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and post code SE8 are all eligible to take part. Entry is free.

Lead sponsor of the awards and dinner is Canary Wharf Group Plc. City Cruises are generously hosting the
champagne river boat cruise. London City Airport and British Airways have joined forces to transform The Chalk Walk leading from the dining area to the bar and dance floor.

Along with The Wharf, awards sponsors are Barclays, Gateway To London, London Chamber of Commerce, O2, Peerless Consulting, Prevista and Tower Hamlets College – Achieving Business Success.

Entry forms for all the awards and dinner bookings are contained in a booklet available by calling 020 7203 1965, emailing dbc@londonchamber.co.uk or from the website at www.docklandsbusiness.org.uk
