Take five - top tips to keep fit
Personal trainer Laura Williams on how to get an Oscar winning body.....
Everyone loves Oscar night, when we all turn green with envy over the svelte stars on the red carpet. So here’s your ‘how to’ guide to getting an A-list body.
Pin a thin photo on the fridge.
Okay, so you may not have the incentive of knowing you’ll be gracing the cover of Heat magazine if you lose a stone, but everyone likes to look at good pics of themselves. Dig out a
flattering holiday snap and pin it to the fridge – it’ll help keep late-night snack attacks at bay.
Get a personal trainer (online).
Even if you can’t afford £50 an hour for someone to hold your hand while you’re on the treadmill, you may still benefit from being accountable to someone if you’ve got fitness and weight loss goals. Acquire a sushi habit.
It’s high in essential fats and low in calories – no wonder sushi’s the A-listers’ favourite. And there are sushi offshoots too – trendy edamame beans, posh broad beans are high in fibre too.
Cut down on the bad carbs.
Even if you don’t believe the celeb hype about carb intake and fat storage (and, let’s face it, the science just isn’t there to back it up), at least make your carbs blood sugar-friendly. Forget those glazed doughnuts mid-afternoon, and enjoy some high-fibre fruit and oat-based snack.
Get stuck into the caffeine.
Ever wondered why the size zero girls are pictured with their venti Starbucks cups? Caffeine creates a temporary surge in your metabolic rate and, even better, having it before exercise improves your stamina and promotes the use of your body fat as fuel.
