YOU can now run in, on and tumble through Canary Wharf during lunchtime martial arts training classes.

The new and novel high-energy sessions will see a jog through the estate interwoven with martial arts moves and exercises using “local street furniture”.

Trainer Adam Horner (pictured left) said: “Canary Wharf is sometimes describes as the world’s financial playground but I want to see the Wharf in a different light. To me, the Docklands and Canary Wharf in particular is a martial fitness playground and I am going to show you what I mean every Wednesday.

“It will be half an hour of fitness training based around running in, on, through and outside the Canary Wharf estate using the local street furniture like stairs ramps and open areas to boost fitness and give you a shot of stress-beating vitality in the middle of your working week.”

Anyone interested in taking part should meet underneath Heron Quays DLR station by 12.15pm for the half-hour session, where the classes will also finish at 12.45pm.

Each session will cost £5 for Fujian White Crane members or £7.50 for non-members.

The established martial arts group also holds weekly evening classes in The Workhouse in Poplar High Street and at the John Orwell Sports Centre in Tench Street.

Adam, who left a job at Barclays Capital to become a full time instructor, teaches “a complete fighting system” which aims to improve general wellbeing, muscle groups, flexibility, lung capacity, joints and bones.

Evening classes on offer included martial tumbling, kung fu, tai chi and sparring.
