London city airport art awards coming up
FOR up-and-coming artists, having your work displayed at an airport used by high-fliers is a chance not to be missed.
That’s what is on offer for photographers and artists who live within five miles of London City Airport as it prepares for its 11th Art Awards.
Inspired by the 2012 London Games, this year’s theme is “what do the Olympics coming to Newham mean to you?”
All entries will be viewed by a team of judges with a shortlisted selection exhibited at the Royal Docks
airport.
Winners receive £500 for first prize, £300 for second prize and £200 for third.
City Airport’s chief executive, Richard Gooding, said: “There can only be one overall winner but all of the finalists will have experienced something just as valuable as winning.
“The Annual Art Awards finalists exhibition will be displayed in the departure terminal and viewed by thousands of passing passengers from around the world each week.
“In previous years passengers have been so impressed with the entries that they have bought
artwork and taken it with them on their flight.”
The closing date for entries is Friday, May 2. For further information regarding the Annual Art Awards 2008 please contact Linda Alexander on 020 7646 0056.
