MARKET visitors could soon have the opportunity to discover their inner adrenalin junkie.

Billingsgate Fish Market is set to welcome traders to the first of its Sunday markets on March 9, and to mark the occasion shoppers could be given a chance to brave a bungee jump looming over nearby West India Dock.

The move is still awaiting approval from British Waterways. If it is refused, the bungee will be moved onto market land.

Market traders will be offering clothes, food and other merchandise from 9am-3pm on the day.

The event has been arranged by operator Charfleets, which also runs markets in Barking, Pitsea, Rayleigh and Dagenham.

Director Frank Nash said: “It’s a great area for the market, within easy reach of Canning Town, Poplar and Stratford by public transport.

“We’ll be offering everything from fruit and veg to fashion and footwear. People will be able to go to the market and stay for the bars and the shopping nearby.”

Street performers have been booked to mingle with crowds, and two live bands will be providing musical entertainment.

Anyone wishing to set up a unique stall should call 020 8591 9033 or visit www.charfleets.com.
