Back problems solved

PHYSIOTHERAPY London has welcomed another top specialist to its expert team.

Senior lecturer and consultant spinal and neurosurgeon John Yeh will be screening spinal patients at the clinic for sinister pathology, discussing spinal procedures and referring patients for X-ray, MRI and surgery where appropriate.

Mr Yeh said: “The key word is reassurance. I wanted to provide a service in Canary Wharf that people here have had to travel into the City for. They can now fit high quality spinal care into their busy schedules.

“They might just need physiotherapy or a massage or if there is something wrong we can take care and offer advice. It’s a one-stop clinic so the process is streamlined and there is less anxiety having to wait around.”

Mr Yeh studied at Cambridge University, trained in Birmingham and now carries out surgery and teaches at St Bart’s and The Royal London Hospitals.

He started at Physiotherapy London this week – call ahead for an appointment.

BUT if you’re after an holistic alternative to ease your back pain, then Exceptional Health might have the answer.

The complementary therapy clinic is now home to weekly Network Spinal Analysis (NSA) sessions, which not only claim to ease chronic back pain, but also aim to lift moods and reduce stress.

NSA was created by American chiropractor Dr Donald Epstein, and the techniques are starting to break through into this country.

Practitioners like David Aranda, who takes the sessions at Exceptional Health, must be trained doctors of chiropractic.

But there are none of the intrusive adjustments that you might associate with traditional methods. Instead, NSA involves touching the spine gently but precisely in order to release tensions.

Practitioners say they attempt to increase “self-awareness of the relationship between body, mind and expressions of spirit and the body’s ability to self heal”.

Sessions run on Wednesday evenings.
