Check out the most expensive flat in docklands
SUPER-RICH Docklands home-buyers are being offered their own place in the sky for a cool #18.7million.
Estate agent Knight Frank has released details of the area's most expensive property, located at the top of Berkeley Tower in Westferry Circus.
Buyers will be able to stretch their legs in around 7,000 square feet of space in total, and enjoy panoramic views of the Thames from the large balcony.
For just less than #19m, the purchaser will get their hands on the 21st and 22nd floor of the tower, which can be merged into one super-apartment.
John Kennedy, associate partner at Knight Frank, said: "It's a unique opportunity for an individual - admittedly a rather rich one - to get hold of a property in one of the best and most sought-after developments in Docklands."
The 75-metre high-rise was completed in 1998. Each of the top two floors boasts a kitchen, reception room, four bedrooms and three bathrooms. One of the most impressive features is the 70 feet-wide reception room leading to a balcony overlooking the river.
The market for exclusive prestige properties shows no sign of letting up around Canary Wharf. Strong interest has been reported in luxury dwellings at Pan Peninsula and New Providence Wharf, which offer in-house cinemas, restaurants, health spas and 24-hour concierge and security.
However, the sky-rocketing figures are still well off the reported #100m paid earlier this year for a flat overlooking Hyde Park, which is said to feature bullet-proof walls and windows and an underground passage to a nearby hotel.
Mr Kennedy added: "We're selling a lot of top-end properties in the area right now. A lot of our buyers are working long hours and they want to be close to Canary Wharf and know that their properties are going to be properly taken care of when they're gone.
"Buyers are interested in concierge service and security, but location is very important. They are willing to give up a few luxuries for a property with a river view."
