Strong season ticket sales are a good sign

WELL, that's it for another season at The Den.
A season with high hopes before it began soon gave way to grave concerns of relegation, until an amazing upturn of form saw us finish not far short of qualifying for playoffs. It certainly was an eventful
season with yet more managerial and chairman changes to add to the many of the preceding 12 months.

Stability looks to be the key to success for us for next season. We now have stability in terms of the management and coaching team and importantly on the pitch we have a good, hard-working, never-say-die spine of first-team players which will hopefully continue into next season. We will all come back with renewed enthusiasm and promotion will again be the expectation. Us Millwall supporters always aim high!
This expectation and appreciation of what Donachie has done since he took charge has been demonstrated by strong season ticket sales already for next season.
With over 3,000 already sold hopefully last season's total sales will be comfortably overtaken to cut the losses the club operates under.
With the promotion and relegation issues sorted out bar the play-offs, we know that we will be entertaining everyone's least favourite team Leeds Utd, which might well see Dennis Wise return to SE16, if he keeps his job till then!
Although some supporters hold certain things against Wisey, especially his public spat with the incoming chairman Jeff Burnige, on the whole he will be given a good reception by Lions fans as he was a great player and character for us. Short trips to Southend, Swindon, Walsall and Luton will be decent away matches to look forward to.
One player who won't be with Millwall next season is Jody Morris, whose contract will not be renewed. Unfortunately, with the financial pressures we are under the club cannot take the gamble that Morris will be worth a contract having been out for such a long time.
It's a shame Morris did not go out on loan to prove himself, as with Marvin Elliott still to sign a new contract Morris could well have slipped straight into his place in the midfield next term.
Off the pitch the club made an important appointment in getting in former Fulham board member Andy Ambler, who joins as chief operating officer and director of finance.
Andy effectively replaces Ken Brown, who became very unpopular with supporters and often got referred to as the 'Brown Brick Wall' - as many new ideas failed to penetrate the 'wall'.
